AT 617 AM EST...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT THE HEAVY RAINFALL THAT WAS OCCURRING OVER METRO PALM BEACH COUNTY OVERNIGHT HAS ENDED. DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT 13 TO 18 INCHES OF RAINFALL HAS FALLEN BETWEEN DELRAY AND HYPOLUXO.

LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS AND THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL HAVE CLOSED I-95 SOUTH BOUND FROM MILE MARKER 56 TO 60 NEAR BOYNTON BEACH BOULEVARD DUE TO FLOODING. FLOODING FROM THE HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE EAST COAST METRO AREAS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO DRAIN AWAY.

THEREFORE...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A FLOOD WARNING THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY! THE WATER MAY OBSCURE DEEP CANALS OR PONDS. REMEMBER...TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN! A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO A SAFER LOCATION IMMEDIATELY. REPORT FLOODING TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OR YOUR COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT. THEY WILL RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE IN MIAMI.
