Lake O Discharges Slow Down

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reducing the water releases from Lake Okeechobee Tuesday by almost 25 percent.

The discharges to the St. Lucie Estuary have been linked to toxic algae problems throughout the Treasure Coast.

About a billion gallons of water has been flowing from Lake Okeechobee daily. The new target flow now shifts to about 750 million gallons of water each day.

The lake's level is around 15 and three quarters feet. Lake levels are falling, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
