Gourmet Burgers to Link Teens with and without Autism

Earlier this year, we heard from teens Samantha and Lucy Krasker, identical twins from West Palm Beach and now sophomores at Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach.

They founded the Culinary Club at the school, and at the time we last spoke, the club held a pizza-making event, in which teens and their peers with Autism made and ate pizza together.

This time around, they are making gourmet burgers at Burger Fi in Delray Beach.

Mom, Amy Krasker, tells us that the idea behind Saturday's event "Make a Burger, Make a Friend" is aimed at creating compassion and a connection among teens with and without autism.

She describes the event this way: "The Culinary Club members are partnering with teens who are on the (autism) spectrum to construct their gourmet hamburgers and sit down enjoy a hamburger together, a universal teenage favorite."

The event, from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. benefits the efforts of the non-profit Autism Speaks and is a set up for a nationwide event that will be happening in November.

This weekend happens at:

                               BurgerFi

                        6 South Ocean Avenue

                        Delary Beach,  Florida 33483
